There’s some troubling new information about the Chase 5/24 rule. View from the Wing reports that the rule might be expanded to include all Chase cards. That means that if you’ve had 5 or more new cards in the last 24 months, you will not be able to get any new Chase cards. As of now there’s nothing concrete, besides the fact that this will happen sooner or later.
The information comes from Chase’s President of co-brand cards Leslie Gillin. We should expect it eventually and it will roll out over time across the their whole portfolio.
Cards Under 5/24 Rule:
- Chase branded cards such as Freedom, Slate & Sapphire Preferred
- Chase Ink Business Cards
- Marriott Co-branded personal card
- United Co-branded cards
- Southwest Co-branded cards
Cards NOT Under 5/24 Rule:
- IHG Rewards Club
- World of Hyatt
- British Airways
- Iberia
- Air Lingus
- Disney
- Amazon
- AARP
- Ritz-Carlton
- Marriott Co-branded business card

The Fairmont card no longer exists. I used to have it and had to convert it… RIP, Chase Fairmont card.
That’s right! Thanks
