Capital One Adds 48-Months Language for Signup Bonuses
Capital One has long been difficult with approvals. But the credit card issuer didn’t have published restrictions when it came to welcome bonuses. We only knew that you could get a new card every 6 months, and you are limited to two personal cards.
Now they have added new language with eligibility restrictions. You will only be eligible for a welcome bonus on the same card every 48 months. This was first reported by TravelFreely.
This is the new restriction that you will now see on every personal Capital One credit card that has a welcome bonus. That includes Capital One Venture X, Venture Rewards, Savor, SavorOne and others. Here’s the language that has been added:
Existing or previous cardmembers are not eligible for this product if they have received a new cardmember bonus for this product in the past 48 months.
The previous language was vague, stating that “existing or previous cardmembers may not be eligible” for a bonus. Now you can only get a bonus every four years. It doesn’t matter if you still have the card or not, the important thing is when you last received a bonus.
I don’t see this language on business credit cards.
Knowing application rules and other restrictions from each credit card issuer is vital when chasing signup bonuses. Capital One has long been difficult with approvals, but many people have been applying recently for their popular cards such as Venture and Venture X.
The new language now limits you to only one bonus every 48 months on the same card. This restriction seems to apply to all personal cards that have a bonus currently, but not business credit cards. it is also limited to just the card itself and not the family of cards, which would be more restrictive.
