Back in 2018, Chase moved its own travel portal to Expedia. Will that move, you were no longer able to use Ultimate Rewards points to book travel on some low cost carriers, with Southwest being one of them.

Now there’s some good news. You’re able once again to book Southwest tickets over the phone using Chase points.

Using Chase Ultimate Rewards points through the Chase travel portal can get you a value of up to 1.5 cents per point if you have a Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. With a Chase Sapphire Preferred you get 1.25 cents per point. You also earn Southwest points on flights booked through Chase.

This option is probably best for those who have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card. Another option is to just transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to Southwest and book that way.
