AwardWallet No Longer Tracking American Airlines Accounts

AwardWallet is a useful tool that helps you keep track of all your loyalty programs. You can track credit card rewards, hotel points, airline miles and more with things such as balances, expiration dates etc.

However, one popular program will no longer be part of their platform. Yesterday they sent out emails yesterday notifying members that American Airlines has forced them to stop tracking your American Airlines account on AwardWallet. Here’s the text of the email:

We’re writing to let you know that American Airlines has forced us to stop tracking your American Airlines account on AwardWallet. We are extremely disappointed in this decision. AwardWallet believes that you own your loyalty and travel data and that you have the right to control and share that data as you see fit. Unfortunately, we are not in a position to fight this demand. As of today, we have removed the following accounts from AwardWallet: <your accounts listed>.

It is a disappointing development. Having your American Airlines AAdvantage account in Award Wallet helps you keep track of expiration dates and also of any unexpected changes in your balances.

One workaround is to add a new program choosing the option “Manually Track Award Program”. You can add the information yourself such as number of miles, expiration dates and any other notes that you might find helpful. It’s not ideal, but you will still get notifications about points expirations at least.
