American Express today announced last year that enhancements would be coming for the Business Platinum Card Members coming in 2019. In February 2019, Business Platinum Card Members will receive information about Platinum Global Access from WeWork, which includes one year of complimentary access to WeWork locations around the world. In addition, Card Members will receive a Shop Dell with Business Platinum benefit of up to $200 in statement credits annually for purchases made directly at Dell. There’s also $100 hotel credit on qualifying charges at hundreds of properties in The Hotel Collection (increased from $75). But all that come with a big fee increase of $145. You can read more about the changes here.
The annual membership fee for Business Platinum will be $595. This fee increase will not take effect until your next membership renewal date on or after your February 2019 billing cycle. So if you apply now, you can lock in the lower fee for one more year.
- Earn 50,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $10,000
- Plus earn an extra 25,000 points after you spend an additional $10,000 all on qualifying purchases on the Business Platinum Card within your first 3 months of Card Membership.
- Apply Here or use a referral from yourself or friends and family.

Welcome offer not available to applicants who have or have had this Card. We may also consider the number of American Express Cards you have opened and closed as well as other factors in making a decision on your welcome offer eligibility. If you’re not sure whether you’ve had this card in the past, you can use this trick to find out. Sometimes cards that you’ve had more than 5-7 years ago, will no longer show up in your Amex history. Amex also has a tool that will let you know whether you qualify for the bonus during the application process.
The added benefits could come in handy for some people. Platinum Global Access from WeWork would make the card worthwhile for those who are looking for that service. The $200 Dell credit should also net some savings, if it is paid out at once and not broken up monthly. You get $25 more in credit for The Hotel Collection as well. But the fee increase if huge. You will soon have to pay $595, up from the current fee of $450. At best these change are break even.
If you want the card, now is probably a good time to apply. The bonus is decent, but not the best we have seen. If you add 20K or 15K more from a referral then it should get pretty good.
