Amtrak Points Will Now Expire After 24 Months

Amtrak has made unannounced changes to its loyalty program, shorting the expiration window for its points. The change was apparently made last Wednesday. Amtrak Guest Rewards points will now expire after 24 months of inactivity, instead of the previous 36 months. Members weren’t told anything about the change.

24 months is still plenty of time to use up your points, but the worst part of this change is that Amtrak Guest Rewards members were not informed at all. Make sure you check your accounts if you haven’t used points in a while and see if the expiration date is coming up.

  1. I don’t believe this is new. I know for sure Amtrak didn’t alert me a few years ago when I lost an inconsequential point balance.
