Amex Platinum 60K Targeted Offer Without Lifetime Language

American Express has sent out targeted offers for the personal Amex Platinum card. This bonus matches the current public offer, but could be of interest to those who have previously held the card since it omits the lifetime language. read more about the cards benefits and new upgrades here.

amex platinum no lifetime

Here’s the offer:

  • Earn 60,000 Membership Rewards® Points after you use your new Card to make $5,000 in purchases in your first 3 months.

The subject line says:

  • Congratulations. You’re Selected to Apply for An Exclusive Offer. or
  • Congratulations [Name]! Get Exciting New Benefits with The Platinum Card® Membership.

Should You Apply?

This sign-up bonus for 60,000 Membership Rewards points is now the standard public bonus on the card, so it is nothing exciting in that regard. There’s often better bonuses, up to 100K and even 150K very rarely, that are worth waiting for. If you have never had this card before, don’t apply, unless you need the card perks right away. Wait for a better bonus.

If you have already gotten the bonus on this card previously, than this offer gets interesting. In Amex applications you will always see the following limitation “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product.” But this targeted offer doesn’t have that restriction,  which means that you should receive the sign-up bonus, even if you’ve had the card in the past.

Many people want the card for the perks, and the sign-up bonus more than covers the annual fee, so you can enjoy a small profit and benefits for a year.

Use Caution With Amex

This is a targeted so there shouldn’t be any issues such as those clawbacks we saw when applying through leaked links. But I would still suggest to avoid MS though with Amex cards to avoid any problems.

Guru’s Wrap-Up

This is not the best offer we’ve seen, and in fact it only matches the current public offer. However it is a great opportunity who have already have the card and are targeetd by email, since it gives them another chance to get a sign-up bonus while also enjoying the card benefits, since it doesn’t have a lifetime restriction in the terms.
