American Express has changed the signup bonus on the Gold Card. I wrote several times about the end date of January 9th, and now we have the new bonuses. Yes, you can still get 50,000 Membership Rewards points, but there’s no more a Rose Gold option. Also gone is the 20% back as a statement credit at U.S. Restaurants within the first 3 months, up to $100 back.
What we’re left with, is a plain 50,000 Membership Rewards Points offer after you spend $2,000 on purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months. Not much worse if you weren’t planning to take full advantage of the restaurant credit or if you didn’t care about the design. You can only see this new offer through incognito. Try this link.
The referral bonus has been lowered to 40,000 Membership Rewards Points, but that could still be the more profitable route. If you have a friend or family member, or even self refer, you can get up to an extra 15K/20K as a referral bonus. That would be better than the 50K incognito offer.
Hopefully everyone who wanted the Amex Gold Card already applied and got it.
