American Express has become pretty generous with referral bonuses lately. You can refer people to any American Express credit card, and you can get great bonuses as well. But as I’ve warned in the past, stay away from self referrals. American Express has been clawing back these bonuses for many people. It’s safer to just have a friend or family member refer you.

Now there’s some good news for those who have the Amex Business Platinum card, as far as referrals. The referral bonus has been increased to 20,000 Membership Rewards points per each person you refer. This bonus was previously 15,000 points only. The annual limit is still at 55,000 points per card. So now you can maximize it with 3 referrals, instead of 4 that you would need previously.

The signup bonus was also increased for this card when applying through referrals. You can now get 100,000 Membership Rewards points, but you need to spend $25,000 within three months.

With the increased referral bonus, this is now the best cards to use for referrals. It’s only matched by the Business Gold Rewards card that also offers 20,000 Membership Rewards points for referrals.
