One of the perks of American Express credit cards if that you can often start using them as soon as you are approved. If you have a large purchase, it could be worth applying for an Amex card and using it right away to work towards the signup bonus. Instead of waiting for a physical card to come in the mail, you will get an instant credit card number and a temporary 4-digit CID number. So you can go ahead and use the card online.
But American Express doesn’t always issue these instant credit card numbers. Sometimes you will see a message with an apology for the number not being issued. But if you are lucky, you can receive an apology and a bonus. This bonus will vary, but today I saw an image posted on reddit with probably the biggest ever bonus for these occasions.
That’s a whopping $315 in the form of a statement credit, for not issuing an instant card number for a Hilton Aspire card. That almost takes care of the annual fee.
