You can now activate the 2nd quarter 5% bonus categories on the Chase Freedom card. The bonus categories for the third quarter are Grocery Stores and Drug Stores. You’ll earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in those bonus categories, from April 1st until June 30th 2016. That’s a maximum of $75 cash back. Must activate by June 14th.

Both categories should provide options for buying gift cards, so you shouldn’t have any problems maximizing the $1,500 in spend this quarter.
Keep in mind that Walmart, Target and Warehouse Clubs don’t qualify as grocery stores.
If you don’t have the card, you can sign up and earn a $150 bonus cash back when you spend $500 within the first three months.
