Beyond the welcome bonus, the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Cards offer ongoing value through travel-friendly perks like a first checked bag free, boarding benefits such as earlier boarding, giving Cardmembers access to overhead bin space when using the Card to book. There are also additional points on everyday purchases such as gas, groceries, and dining depending on the Card product used. These are good offers for all three Southwest credit cards, especially with the lower spending requirement. However, this bonus alone will not be enough to earn the Companion Pass.
You need 135,000 Rapid Rewards points to earn the Southwest Companion Pass. Rapid Rewards Credit Cardmembers receive a boost of 10,000 Companion Pass qualifying points every year, so you just need 125,000.
The new bonus is now available through referrals as well. And remember that referral bonuses count towards the Companion Pass requirement.
