$90 Million Facebook Settlement

Facebook has agreed to pay $90 million to settle a class action lawsuit that accuses the company of unlawful user tracking on external websites to collect data. This lawsuit alleges that Facebook improperly obtained and collected data from users in the United States who visited non-Facebook websites that displayed the Facebook Like button between April 22, 2010 and September 26, 2011, inclusive.

Facebook denies the allegations. Both parties have agreed to a settlement to avoid the costs and risks of a trial. Individual settlement amounts have not yet been specified, but you can already file a claim to get your share of that $90 million Facebook settlement.

This latest payout follows a recent $650 million settlement in Illinois that impacted nearly 1.5 million residents.

Who’s Eligible?

The Settlement Class includes all persons who, between April 22, 2010 and September 26, 2011, inclusive (the “Settlement Class Period”), were Facebook Users in the United States that visited non-Facebook websites that displayed the Facebook Like button.

Settlement Payout

If the Settlement is approved by the Court, Facebook will establish a Settlement Fund of ninety million dollars ($90,000,000.00) to pay all valid claims submitted by the Settlement Class Members, as well as notice and administration expenses, attorneys’ fees and expenses, and service awards for the Settlement Class Representatives.

If you submit an Approved Claim, you will receive an equal share of the settlement fund. All payments to class members who have submitted valid and timely claims, will be in equal amounts.

Claim Forms may be submitted online or printed and mailed to the Settlement Administrator at: Facebook Internet Tracking Litigation, c/o Administrator, 1650 Arch Street, Suite 2210, Philadelphia, PA 19103. If you submit a claim by U.S. mail, the completed and signed Claim Form must be postmarked by September 22, 2022. If submitting a Claim Form online, you must do so by 11:59 p.m. PST on September 22, 2022.
