You Can Now Transfer SPG Points to LifeMiles At 1:1.25

Starwood Preferred Guest and LifeMiles have announced a new partnership. LifeMiles is the frequent flyer program of Avianca and it is now a transfer partner of the SPG program. With this new partnership, you can convert your Starpoints into LifeMiles at a 1:1 ratio. But you also get a 5,000 bonus for every 20,000 points transferred, so this is basically a 1:1.25 rate.

To celebrate this new partnership there’s also a special offer to earn extra Standpoints. You can earn double Starpoints with SPG on two or more nights stay at participating Starwood hotels and resorts in Latin America and the Caribbean between September 15 and December 15, 2016. You can see participating hotels here.

It’s always good to see new partners. LifeMiles is a good frequent flyer program for Star Alliance redemptions, but I still don’t think it would usually make sense to transfer Strapoints to Lifemiles. Especially now that earning Starpoints just got much harder. With the new bonuses on the Amex SPG cards, you get 2 free nights instead of Starpoints.

If you’re looking for Lifemiles, you can register for this promo by 9/26 and purchase miles by 9/27 at a discount.
