New Limitation for Your Amazon Gift Card Balance

Amazon made an update today, limiting the ability to use Amazon gift cards or the Amazon gift card balance for gift card purchases.

Amazon.com Balance and Amazon.com Gift Card Terms and Conditions state that they “cannot be used to purchase other Gift Cards, prepaid open loop cards, or certain third-party gift cards.” And it was never possible to pay for Amazon gift cards or prepaid open loop cards such as Visa gift cards, with your Amazon gift card balance. However, it was always possible to use them to purchase third party gift cards and egift cards.

Doctor of Credit reports that as of today that it no longer possible, which was a popular option for redeeming Amazon gift cards for those who didn’t need to purchase anything else from Amazon. You could easily use your Amazon gift card balance at your favorite stores, often at a discount.
