World of Hyatt usually announces category changes for some of its hotels around the end of the year. This years list of hotels that will change categories has 9 properties with most of them moving up and just one going to a lesser category. Hotels that are already booked will not be affected by these changes, expect for The Confidante where you will receive an adjustment.
Hyatt Category Changes
The following hotels will shift into a higher award category:
- Hyatt Place Orlando Airport (Category 1 to 2)
- Hyatt Place Orlando/Lake Mary (Category 1 to 2)
- Hyatt Place St. Paul (Category 1 to 2)
- Hyatt Place Augusta (Category 2 to 3)
- Hyatt Place Santa Cruz (Category 2 to 4)
- Highlands Inn, a Hyatt Hotel (Category 6 to 7)
- Hyatt Place Long Island/New York City (Category 2 to 3)
- Hyatt Place Shenzhen, Dongmen (Category 1 to 2)
The following will shift into a lower award category:
- The Confidante Hotel (Category 6 to 4)

Only 9 hotes are changing categories, so probably not many people will be affected. The only hotel that’s becoming more affordable is The Confidante Hotel in Miami Beach. If you had your eyes on this hotel, you can now use your 5-Brand Free Night Award or your free anniversary night, since it’s going to a Category 4.
