Amazon Prime Members Can Get Free Two-Hour Delivery From Whole Foods

Amazon announced today that it will start delivering Whole Foods groceries using its Prime Now delivery service. Starting Thursday 2/8/2018, Prime subscribers in four cities can get free two-hour delivery on thousands of Whole Foods items. The four lucky cities are Austin, Cincinnati, Dallas and Virginia Beach. Amazon plans to expand delivery across the United States later this year.

Customers in the eligible areas can search through the Whole Foods section of the Prime Now website online or on Amazon’s mobile apps to select items to order. Fresh produce, meat, seafood, and some alcohol will be available, but not all Whole Foods items are eligible for quick delivery. Two-hour delivery is free for all Prime members with orders of $35 or more, and customers can pay an extra $7.99 to have their items delivered within one hour.

There’s already some similar services such as Boxed, that will deliver fresh produce and groceries to your door. Now with Amazon entering the game and with Whole Foods involved, it definitely gets more competitive. Prime Now currently serves more than 50 global markets, and Amazon could expand the grocery delivery portion of Prime Now more quickly than before through Whole Foods’ stores
