United Airlines has made some changes to its award pricing. Previosuly the cheapest flight possible when booking with miles we 10,000 MileagePlus miles. But now we are seeing some short faul one way awards priced at just 5,000 MileagePlus miles. The new price shows mostly for fares that would otherwise cost between $50 and $60, givieng United miles a value of just about one cent each. But there could be some exceptions.
You can book routes such as Los Angeles (LAX) to Las Vegas (LAS) and Newark (EWR) to Fort Lauderdale (FLL) for just 5,000 miles, as TPG reports. This look like another move towards dynamic prices with awards reflecting cash prices.
