U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Negative Changes Going Into Effect on Dec. 15

U.S. Bank Altitude Reserve Negative Changes

🔃 Update: This announcement is now also posted online under the card’s benefits.

US Bank has sent out a letter regarding upcoming changes for the U.S. Bank Altitude® Reserve Visa Infinite® Card. The changes are mostly negative, but there are also a couple of positive developments. All changes will go live on December 15, 2025.

Let’s start with the bad news:

  • 3x points on mobile wallet spending will be capped to $5,000 each billing cycle. it’s currently uncapped.
  • $325 travel credit will only apply to for travel booked through the Travel Center. It will no longer work for travel booked direct or dining.
  • 1.5 cents per point redemption for travel is going away. You will only get 1.0cpp starting 12/15.

As for good news:

  • US Bank is adding transfer partners, but no details have been revealed yet.
  • You will earn 10x on hotels and car rentals and 5x on flights booked through the Travel Center

The letter notes that you can find more information about these changes at usbank.com/AltitudeReserveBenefits, but I don’t see anything about these changes at that page.

Guru’s Wrap-up

These are three major changes that are all negative. 3X earning is capped for mobile wallets, redeeming at 1.5cpp for travel is going away, and the $325 annual credit is getting more difficult to use.

The only positive thing is that US Bank will launch travel partners and that might get you some extra value for your points.

Let me know what you think!
