Temu Promises Huge Discounts During President’s Day Sale
Temu is a relatively new online retailer that launched in the United States in September. It offers extremely low prices and an extensive catalog of items ranging from clothing to electronics to musical instruments. It also has ongoing promotions and discounts that promise even more savings, especially for newer customers.
You probably saw the Super Bowl ad for the Boston-based, Chinese-owned retailer, or might have come across it on TikTok. And now you can take advantage of the President’s Day sale with prices from $0.39 and discounts up to 90% off.
The online retailer also has a referral program. If you sign up now you can get a 30% discount on your first order. If you invite friends, you can earn a $5 bonus.
I just placed my first order today. Temu seems like a mix of Shein and Alibaba, if you are familiar with either of those online retailers. Shipping times are not what you usually see at Amazon. Temu claims it keeps prices low by “cutting out the middleman” and allowing Chinese vendors to sell directly to American consumers and ships directly from China.
The company has a 1.84 star rating (out of 5 stars) from 95 customer reviews at the Better Business Bureau along with 127 complaints. Some customers say that products never arrived, products damaged and customer service was slow or unhelpful.
So while you might be able to get lots of cheap items, quality and customer service might be lacking.

I have made many purchases from Temu. For me it is a replacement for Amazon, eBay, Walmart/Target, and the local dollar store. I feel their clothing is not cheaper than the other goods they have such as gadgets/tools, sporting goods, makeup, bags (the variety of bags is eye-popping), school supplies, emergency gear, toys, and shoes.
I am really happy with the company because the return process is painless, credit for delayed delivery is automatic, and discounts are offered on a regular basis. Chatting with Customer Service is easy (hit chat on lower right and receive response). The cons are the wait time is over a week and also if buying for gifts, the boxes may arrive damaged but has not always been the case. I am not sure why the BBB only has a 1.8 rating because that is not my experience at all, but I joined in November which was months after they had already started operations.
Don’t forget to look on the app. There is a gift every day that you may receive small store credit amounts or coupons. There’s also an arcade section in the app to give out referrals and get free gifts.
I have seen this comment in other websites. I guess they just go around commenting everywhere. This site looks exactly like Alibaba, just in English.
