You Can Still Recycle Ink at Staples & Earn Rewards with Free UPS Shipping

Staples has a ink recycling program that can earn you rewards. Members can recycle any ink or toner cartridge, up to 20 per calendar month per customer, and, if the Member has spent at least $30 in ink and/or toner purchases at Staples over the previous 180 days, the Member will receive $2 back in Staples Rewards per cartridge.

This is usually done in-store, but with the current situation, you should avoid leaving your house at all and Staples has suspended ink recycling at stores. But the good news is that you can still recycle by shipping cartridges  to Staples for free.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Login to your account
  2. Select Staples Rewards
  3. Select Recycle Ink & Toner
  4. Select Recycle Ink & Toner Online tab
  5. Verify or edit your shipping information
  6. Request and print labels your FREE UPS Shipping Label

Please allow up to 10 business days for processing recycled cartridges. Also make sure to follow shipping instructions.

  1. Well, this doesn’t make sense. I can’t drop of my ink cartridges at Staples, but I can go to the UPS store. And what if I have to go to Staples anyway to get more ink cartridges to print the label to get free shipping?

  2. My 180 days since my last ink purchase ends May 9, 2020. Normally I would go into the Staple store on May 3 and recycle cartridges for the month of May.

Does anyone know, (when ink cartridges are done through the mail) what day does staples record the recycling as occurring? Is it the day you printout the shipping label, or the day UPS delivers it, or the day they open the box and take the ink cartridges out?

Thank you to anyone that may know, I have sent this question to staples 3 times and have not received an answer

    1. I mailed some in late March(first time doing that)… never got any credit for any of them or any notice they received them and its June 3rd. Kind of a waste. Ive got some more but will just wait until the store is accepting them so I know it works this time. Kind of a waste…
