Proposed Anti-Consumer, Pro-Airline DOT Rule

The Department of Transportation recently issued a proposed rule to define “unfair” and “deceptive” practices so narrowly that it would render the DOT largely powerless to find fault with anti-consumer airline practices and to impose fines against said airlines. Since all of us here want to be able to continue to use our miles and fly without getting totally screwed by the airlines, everyone should go to the proposed rule comment page, click on “comment now,” and leave a comment opposing the rule. CDC Releases Updated Guidance for Airlines Amid Coronavirus (Video)

The new guidelines issued this week, specifically instruct carriers to report “ill travelers from any country” who have a fever or characteristic symptoms of the virus. In the case of a sick passenger present, the agency suggested “enhanced cleaning procedures,” including cleaning all soft surfaces (like seats and seat belts) within six feet of that sick passenger. Barclays Is Clueless On The AA Shutdown Shenanigans

Ryan had an interesting phone call with Barclays that revealed they are clueless about what is going on with American Airlines AAdvantage accounts / AA shutdown events. For those with shutdowns of their AAdvantage accounts, I think it’s worth letting Barclays know what’s going on. Another stakeholder questioning American Airlines’ claim of absolute power might check their egos. Read more here.
