News Roundup
This is a roundup of news that I have come across during the day. Read about Saks changes, Chime Credit Builder Card, new Apple Card feature, Kauai to rejoin Hawaii Safe Travels program, Italy has new way to combat overtourism, and Dallas Mavericks will accept Dogecoin for tickets and merchandise.
Saks Fifth Avenue To Separate Online & eCommerce Business (Potential Effect On Plat Credits)
Saks Fifth Avenue has announced that the physical stores and eCommerce business will be separated. WSJ is reporting that few changes will be seen by customers and they will be able to purchase online and pick up in store.
Chime Credit Builder Card: What It Is and How It Works
The Chime Credit Builder card is a secured credit card. It works just like a regular credit card in that you can use it to buy gas, groceries or household goods. There’s no annual interest, no fees and no credit check. Chime claims that using the card can improve your credit rating by an average of 30 points in just four months. For someone with poor credit or no credit, this could be a great way to build or improve your credit score.
Apple Card will become more useful with iOS 14.5
Internally called “Madison,” the new feature will allow users to share the same Apple Card with other family members through iCloud Family Sharing. The Apple Card owner can invite other people to share their card and track everyone’s spending on the Wallet app. The code also suggests that the Daily Cash will also be available for family members.
Kauai asks to rejoin Hawaii Safe Travels program in April
Kauai Mayor Derek S. K. Kawakami is seeking to rejoin the state Safe Travels Hawaii program, which would make it unnecessary for Kauai’s out-of-state visitors to stay in a resort bubble or spend time on another Hawaiian island to qualify for a quarantine exemption. If Gov. David Ige approves Kawakami’s proposed Emergency Rule 25, trans-Pacific travelers who successfully participate in state’s Safe Travels pre-travel testing program could begin exempting the island’s 10-day quarantine on April 5.
Italy has a new way to combat overtourism
Details of the new Uffizi Diffusi project are being kept under wraps, but Schmidt is planning “at least 60, maybe even 100 exhibition spaces” across Tuscany, and has hinted that they will include a villa that once belonged to the Medici family in Montelupo Fiorentino, half an hour west of Florence; port city Livorno; belle epoque spa town Montecatini Terme; and Careggi, where another Medici villa sits just east of Florence.
Dallas Mavericks will accept cryptocurrency for tickets and merchandise
Purchases made using Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency launched in 2013, will be processed by BitPay. Dogecoin is based on a meme of a Shiba Inu dog and has recently been endorsed by celebrities including Snoop Dogg and Elon Musk. “For those of you who would like to learn more about Dogecoin, we strongly encourage you to talk to your teenagers who are on TikTok and ask them about it. They will be able to explain it all to you,” Cuban says. The decision makes the Mavericks the first N.B.A. team to adopt the cryptocurrency.
