Nationwide Bank is still offering a $200 bonus for opening a checking account but their requirements have changed quite a bit. Until June 30th, 2015, you can receive the bonus when you open an eChecking account using the promotional code “03110473″. You have to fund the account with $50 or more.
You need to set up an automatic monthly direct deposit of at least $200 into your E-Checking account within 60 days. The account must remain open for at least 90 days to receive the $200 bonus. The $200 bonus will be deposited into your new account within 2 weeks following the 90 day minimum requirement. This $200 bonus offer is limited to one per household and is not available to existing checking customers.
The eChecking account comes with a $8 monthly fee. To avoid the fee, you will need to sign up for at least one direct deposit of $25 per month AND make at least 8 debit card transactions per statement period OR maintain a combined average daily balance among your Nationwide Bank deposit accounts of at least $10,000 (excludes CD account balances). This makes it a bit annoying but still achievable. If you do get charged a fee, remember to always ask for a refund.
I would go for this, but I already received the bonus a few months ago. The $200 rewards makes it worth the hassle.

Yes, to receive the bonus you only need one $200 DD. But to waive the $8 monthly fee you need a $25 DD and 8 debit card transactions per month.
I was told that the direct deposit only had to happen once, not happen every single month. Is this true?
