JetBlue Trims 27 Routes From Its Summer Schedule

JetBlue is trimming its summer schedule as higher fuel prices make long-haul flights less profitable and staffing issues still linger. In it’s latest schedule filing, the New York airline has revealed that it will cut or pause 27 routes planned for the summer. 

Only two routes are ending for good. Flights from Nashville and Austin to the popular Mexican destination of Cancun will end on April 30th. The other 25 routes will pause from April/May until October/November.

That includes many flights from the tri-state area. The JFK-Key West route will end on May 1st, and then resumes October 30th. Newark flights to Atlanta, Austin, Charleston, Jacksonville, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Raleigh Durham and San Diego wil lalso be suspended through the summer.

Most of these routes were launched during the pandemic, either in 2020 or 2021. Many airlines added flights in anticipation of increased travel demand, which is getting back to pre-pandemic levels.
