Change JetBlue Flights Without Paying Fee or Fare Difference

JetBlue is currently offering customers free changes in January. But in fact, this is working out to a much better deal as JetBlue is not charging for the fare difference either. That means that if you book a $50 flight on January 10, you can then change your travel date to January 20 for a $400 flight, without paying anything extra. Normally we see this kind of offer from Southwest.

This could be an unintentional offer from JetBlue so it’s bet to do this quickly before it’s gone. You can make itinerary changes online, so you don’t need to call in to get this done.

Free Changes

You can make free changes to your January JetBlue flights only. Customers can make changes to any other later date with no change fee or difference in fare. It will not work on all routes or dates, so it’s best to just book one-way as it is easier to get this done. Even on the same route and date, it could work on some flight numbers and not others.

To get started, go to JetBlue Best Fare Finder to find the cheapest dates in January. Book that flight in the fare class that you plan to fly. Then go to change your itinerary to a later date when you actually want to fly. To do this, go to “Manage your flight” and at the bottom of the page, select “Change itinerary”. Enter your new dates and you should see no extra charges if your route and date is eligible. You should just get a total of $0.00 at the final step.

There are a few things to keep in mind. You can’t change the route, you can only change dates. The original booking and the rebooked flight will have to be in the same class. So make sure to start with the route and fare class that you plan to fly. This will not work on awards or codeshare flights like American Airlines.

Guru’s Wrap-up

This is a great opportunity to book some super cheap flights in January, and get the most preferable dates and times for your travels. This will probably not last long so start booking now. You can do so with no risk if you book a flight more than 7 days from now. JetBlue will give you a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours, in case it doesn’t work out.

Also keep in mind that JetBlue flights that cost less than $100, normally trigger the Amex Platinum airline incidental fee credit. So you could end with a flight worth hundreds of dollars for free. Also, if JetBlue is not your chosen airline in your Amex Platinum account, you can make a one time change in January.
