Hyatt has been sending out notifications to loyalty members regarding their 2017 Elite status. They appear to be retroactively crediting award nights from last year. If you weren’t aware, starting January 1, 2018, all nights on free night awards will count toward tier status for World of Hyatt. But, retroactively crediting these award nights from last year is surprising and probably great news for some.
Now, while it might be good for some, it will probably be too late for those who earned status through paid stays and could have saved some money if they knew this was coming.
