Home Chef Data Breach Has Affected 8 Million Customers
If you have ordered meal deliveries from Home Chef, your personal information could be for sale in the dark web. The company has confirmed a data breach, two weeks after a data breach seller listed a database of 8 million customer records.
Home Chef said that the data breach has exposed customer email addresses, names and phone numbers, encrypted passwords, last four digits of credit card numbers and some other account information such as frequency of deliveries and mailing address may also have been compromised.
“Protection of customer data is a top priority for Home Chef,” the company said, and it is working hard to safeguard customers’ information. Home Chef said it is taking action to investigate this situation and to strengthen information security defenses to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.
The listings on the dark web marketplaces are purportedly selling customer databases for several other large companies TechCrunch reports.
