Gateside by TSA PreCheck Lets Members Enter Airports Without a Ticket

TSA recently launched a new program called Gateside by TSA PreCheck, allowing eligible people to go through airport security without a boarding pass at select airports.

This is a program for things like meeting arriving family or friends at the gate, accompanying someone before departure, meeting someone during a layover, or simply accessing airport restaurants and shops beyond security. It is currently available at 13 U.S. airports, with more locations expected to be added later.

How Gateside by TSA PreCheck Works

To participate, you need to have TSA PreCheck eligibility and a valid Known Traveler Number.

You must submit an application 1 to 3 days before the planned airport visit. If approved, you can go through a TSA PreCheck screening lane using an acceptable ID and your Gateside approval. There is no additional fee for the pass. Children are eligible to visit but must be entered on their parent/guardian’s reservation.

Passes are valid for one calendar day, and re-entry is allowed on that date. Approval is not guaranteed and airports can limit passes during busy periods.

TSA says the program will expand to additional airports in phases.
