DoorDash Offers College Students Free DashPass for One Year
DoorDash has a nice offer for college students. Eligible students can now get Student DashPass completely free for one year, instead of paying the regular student price of $4.99 per month or $48 annually.
The promotion is available to eligible students in the U.S. and Canada who sign up between August 17 and October 12, 2026 and successfully verify their student status through SheerID.
Free Student DashPass Benefits
The free membership comes with the same perks as the regular Student DashPass plan, including:
- $0 delivery fees on eligible orders
- Reduced service fees on eligible orders
- 5% DoorDash credit back on eligible pickup orders
- 5%-10% off eligible Lyft rides
- Exclusive DashPass promotions and rewards
Who’s Eligible?
You’ll need to verify that you’re actively enrolled at an eligible university or post-secondary school. DoorDash uses SheerID for verification and asks for your name, school, date of birth and email address. If automatic verification doesn’t work, you may be asked to provide a transcript, class schedule or tuition/registration receipt.
DoorDash says the free offer is for eligible students who aren’t currently subscribed to DashPass. Existing standard DashPass members may need to cancel their current subscription and wait for that billing period to end before enrolling in a Student plan.
The free membership is actually structured as a $0-per-month plan for 12 months. After the free year, it automatically converts to the discounted Student DashPass plan at $4.99 per month plus tax, assuming you’re still an eligible student. DoorDash says it will email you before the transition. If you’re no longer an eligible student, you’ll be charged $9.99-per-month unless you cancel.
