Emirates Wants You to Fly, Will Cover COVID-19 Treatment and Even Funeral Expenses
Emirates want to give customers peace of mind when it comes to flying during the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline is offering to cover medical expenses, quarantine costs and will even cover up to $1,750 for your funeral.
Emirates says that “customers can travel with confidence, as the airline will cover medical expenses of up to €150,000 ($175,000) and quarantine costs of €100 ($117) per day for 14 days, should they be diagnosed with COVID-19 during their travel, while they are away from home.” This cover will be provided by the airline, free of cost to its customers.
This cover for COVID-19 related medical expenses and quarantine costs is offered by Emirates free of cost to its customers regardless of class of travel or destination. This cover is immediately effective for customers flying on Emirates with at least the first flight completed by October 31, 2020. The coverage is valid for 31 days from the moment they fly the first sector of their journey. This means Emirates customers can continue to benefit from the added assurance of this cover, even if they travel onwards to another city after arriving at their Emirates destination.
There’s no need to register or fill in any forms before traveling. “Any impacted customer who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 during their travel simply has to contact a dedicated hotline,” the announcement says.
The coverage also has a morbid benefit. Emirates will pay full costs for transporting the body to home country and cover funeral costs up to a limit, per covered person of €1,500 ($1,750). But hearing that your funeral costs are covered, might not be such a great pitch.
