Emirates Announces Massive Reductions in Fuel Surcharges
Emirates has sent out emails today announcing massive reductions in fuel surcharges. Effective May 21, 2020, the surcharge amounts will now be caluclated using a value by sector representing short medium and long haul sectors aligned to ARPCO zones:
- Subcontinent & Middle East
- Europe, Africa & Far East
- American & Australia/New Zealand/South Pacific

Emirates first class is a great product and one that most people can only afford when paying with miles. But now it will be even more affordable thank to these new fuel surcharges that can save you over $1,000 in some cases. A roundtrip in first class between Newark and Athensfor example will now require 135K miles and only $120 in fees.
Emirates Skywards miles are not easy to earn, but you can get miles by transferring from Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou and Capital One Miles.
