Discover has the Discover It card and Discover Deals which could earn you lots of cash over time. Many people might have accumulated large amounts of cashback during their first year of card membership when all cashback is doubled.

This cash can be used for statement credit at any time, any amount. But there’s usually better uses for it through their other redemption options. You can use the cash back to give to charity or at Amazon, but that still gives you a 1:1 value. The gift card route is what could give you even more.

Right now you can buy $20 Nike egift cards for just $15 when using Discover cashback. That’s 25% off, and better than the usual 20% off that you can get on gift cards. To find the Nike gift cards, just go to Rewards and then Gift Cards. From “Select a Gift Partner” drop down menu, select Nike – Special. You receive the egift cards instantly when you check out.

Nike egift cards can be sold at CardCash for 86% so you can make an extra 14% on your Discover cashback. This is a special offer which might end soon. Car rental gift cards are also a good option for redeeming Discover cashback, usually for short-term rentals. You can get 50% off $40 gift cards on select car rental companies.

If you don’t have the Discover it card, you can apply through my referral to get a $50 bonus. Thats a very small signup bonus, but all cashback earned gets doubled for the first year. That means that you will earn 2X on all purchases and 10X on rotating categories for one month,

  1. Thanks — and was potentially interested in this deal, til I realized it was restricted only for those rare folks who still hold onto their Discover bucks, rather than cash them out regularly… (I stopped holding them after first year…..)

Telling how slow the gift card market has been lately (since the TPM meltdown?) that about the only gc deals/news we see relate to cards with very restricted audiences like this one (or others like the ones where you had to have a certain kind of Amex cc — “member rewards whatever”…. to get them to work. Sour grapes. 😉 Speaking of TPM, at slow gc market times like this, we’d have Michael Dean sending out notices to assure us that “no, the gift card market is not shutting down….” (fellow TPM-withdrawal sufferers will catch the irony.)
