Bilt Makes Negative Changes to Elite Status Requirements for 2024

Bilt Changes Elite Status Requirements

Bilt launched its rewards program and credit card back in 2021, with the unique perk of earning reward points on rent. But members also earn points for travel and dining with the no-annual-fee Bilt World Elite Mastercard® (Rates & Fees). Earning is doubled on the first of the month during Rent Day. It’s not required to have the card in order to earn points, but having the card makes it easier to do so.

Based on the number of of points that you earn during the year, you also earn more perks with elite status. And now, as we head into the new year, Bilt announced a major revamp to its elite qualification requirements. These change include a new way to earn status, but overall it is getting harder to move up the tiers. You will have to earn between 100% to 150% more points to reach each elite status level in 2024. Let’s take a look at the details and see how Bilt elite status will work going forward.

Bilt Elite Status Requirements

Bilt Rewards offers four status tiers. Anyone enrolled in Bilt Rewards gets Blue, and then you can earn your way up to Silver, Gold and Platinum. Through the end of 2023, you can earn elite status with Bilt Rewards based on the number of points you earn within a calendar year. Currently those requirements are as follows:

  • Blue – anyone enrolled in Bilt Rewards with under 25,000 points
  • Silver – 25,000 points earned
  • Gold – 50,000 points earned
  • Platinum – 100,000 points earned

Starting in January 1, 2024, Bilt will offer two different paths to elite status. You can qualify based on the points earned for the calendar year, or your total spend on non-rent purchases. Here are the requirements for next year:

Tier Qualifying Points
Qualifying Spend
Blue 0 $0
Silver 50,000 $10,000
Gold 125,000 $25,000
Platinum 200,000 $50,000

Here’s what counts for the spending requirement:

  • All non-rent purchases with your Bilt World Elite Mastercard®
  • SoulCycle classes booked through the Bilt app
  • Bilt Dining restaurants when you pay with any card linked in Bilt Wallet
  • Lyft rideshare when Bilt is set as your rewards partner
  • Bilt Travel Portal spending

Milestone Rewards

Bilt will introduce Milestone Rewards , which ill be available at every 25,000-point increment. There’s no word yet and what that looks like, but they’ll probably go live when the changes kick in on January 1, 2024.

Important Tips

  • Tier status earned at any point in a year remains active through the end of the following year. So if you earn Gold status by the end of a calendar year, you’ll keep that status in the following year.
  • You must use the card 5 times to earn points each statement period.

Guru’s Wrap-up

These changes will make it harder to earn elite status in the Bilt Rewards program. While you can earn status through spend starting next year, those requirements are quite high.

For this year for example, I earned Gold status mainly through my rent payments. I just needed a bit more spending which was usually dining. For next year, I would need to earn 125,000 points instead of 50,000, to keep my Gold status. That makes it impossible, since my rent payment will earn me just about a quarter of that. Spending $25,000 with my Bilt card also seems unlikely, so I guess I’ll just settle for Silver.

As for the value of Bilt elite status, currently the main benefit is better transfer rates to travel partners when they run promotions for Rent Day. Next year they promise more perks and benefits, so maybe status will be more valuable.
