Barclaycard Arrival+ card has an increased sign up bonus of 50,000 miles when you spend $3,000 in the first 90 days. That’s worth $525 in travel and it is the highest offer they’ve ever had. The offer has been around for about a year now and it is about to end soon, but there’s no exact date. If you’ve been thinking about it, now it’s the time to apply if you have yet to do so.
Offer & Requirements
Cardmembers will receive 50,000 bonus miles if you use your new credit card account to make $3,000 in Net Purchases within ninety (90) days of your credit card account being opened. This one-time 50,000 miles offer is valid for first-time cardmembers with new accounts only. Existing cardmembers and existing accounts are not eligible for this offer.
Earning And Using Miles
Barclaycard Arrival Plus earns 2% back on all purchases and it gives you 5% miles back to use toward your next redemption, every time you redeem. That actually makes it a 2.1% card, hence the $525 valuation for the sign-up bonus. You can redeem your miles for travel statement credits starting at 10,000 miles for $100 toward all or a portion of your travel purchase of $100 or more made within the past 120 days. Miles don’t expire as long as your account is open, active and in good standing.
This is a great card to have for any frequent traveler. Besides the great current bonus and the 2.1% earning rate, one of its strong points is that it doesn’t keep you tied to any airline or hotel chain. You can use your miles for almost any travel purchase, and you can book however you want. You can book directly with an airline or hotel, or a travel agent or OTA. As long as you use your Barclaycard Arrival Plus as form of payment, you can reimburse yourself for your travel expenses with your miles.
Guru’s Wrap-Up
I applied for this card when it first came out and I still have it. It has a great signup bonus and the fee is waived the first year, so it’s a win-win. On top of that it’s also PIN enabled, which lets you use your card at self-service chip terminals in Europe and elsewhere. I actually brought my card with me just for that reason during my trip to Spain and Italy last month. The card has no foreign transaction fees either.
