American Express is sending some people emails with an offer to earn 60,000 Membership Rewards points when they apply and are approved for a new personal Platinum card. This is the same as the current public offer that requires $5,000 in purchases in your first 3 months. This offer expires on December 19, 2019.
But what’s interesting about it, is that it doesn’t have a lifetime restriction. These offers that have no lifetime language, let you get the bonus once again on a card that you already had in the past. If you have never had the Amex Platinum Card, then you should hold off for a better offer, or at least apply through a referral so you can get an extra bonus.
Guru’s Wrap-up
60K points is not a good offer. It’s always there if you need it, but you should wait for somthing better if you never had the card. But if you received an email, then it is an opportunity to earn another bonus on the same card that you’ve had in the past. If you’re not sure if you have had this card, you can simply check with Amex. Cards that you had over 7 years ago usually fall of your record.
