American Airlines Expands Flagship Dining Access
American Airlines is opening up its Flagship Dining experience to more travelers, with an important change beginning September 15, 2026.
Until now, the premium sit-down dining experience inside select Flagship Lounges was generally reserved for passengers traveling in Flagship First. Starting September 15, customers traveling in Flagship Business Plus and Flagship Business on qualifying long-haul international, transcontinental and Hawaii routes will also be eligible.
The expanded access will initially be available at Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) and Miami (MIA). American also plans to reopen Flagship Dining at Los Angeles (LAX) in late 2026.
Flagship Dining Access Expands September 15
The key change is that eligible Flagship Business passengers will no longer need to be flying Flagship First to access the private restaurant-style dining area.
Beginning September 15, access will be available to passengers traveling in Flagship Business or Flagship Business Plus on qualifying:
- Long-haul international routes
- Premium transcontinental routes
- Hawaii Flagship routes
Flagship Dining remains available on a space-available basis. Guests check in with the host inside the Flagship Lounge, and if tables are full, they may be placed on an electronic waitlist.
This is a meaningful improvement for Business Class passengers at DFW and MIA, since Flagship Dining is a separate experience from the regular Flagship Lounge buffet and offers full sit-down service.
LAX Flagship Dining Is Coming Back
American also confirmed that its private Flagship Dining space at Los Angeles International Airport will reopen in late 2026.
That will restore another location for the premium dining concept after its extended closure and give eligible international and premium transcontinental travelers another option on the West Coast.
New Four-Course Menu
The access expansion comes with a refreshed four-course Flagship Dining menu featuring seasonal and regionally inspired dishes.
American highlighted dishes including:
- Roasted purple cauliflower steak
- Flagship burger
- Churro bread pudding
- Texas pear and burrata salad
- Mesquite-grilled beef filet
- California artisan board
The exact selections will vary by location. American is also introducing a wine and chocolate pairing curated by Chef Thomas Keller, featuring KHK Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon with K+M chocolates and hazelnut dragées. The pairing will be offered in Flagship Dining and at The Chelsea Lounge at JFK, while KHK Cabernet will also be available in all Flagship Lounges.
