Aeroplan Status Challenge for Hyatt Explorist & Globalist Members
Air Canada has finally launched the previously announced Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge for World of Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members. You can complete an Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge by flying eligible Air Canada flights and accumulating the required Status Qualifying Credits (SQC) within 90 days to unlock access to Aeroplan Elite Status Core Benefits.
How the Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge Works
Your Hyatt status determines what you can earn:
- Explorist: Earn 8,000 SQC in 90 days to get Aeroplan 25K
- Globalist: Earn up to Aeroplan 75K depending on how many SQC you earn
- 8,000 SQC for Aeroplan 25K
- 12,000 SQC for Aeroplan 35K
- 17,000 SQC for Aeroplan 50K
- 25,000 SQC for Aeroplan 75K
Eligible members may register for the Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge by clicking the โRegisterโ button on the Hyatt Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge offer page.
Once you register, the 90-day clock starts when Aeroplan processes your registration. That can take up to 48 hours.
The Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge you are enrolled in is determined by your World of Hyatt status at the time you register. If you registered as an Explorist member, you will remain enrolled in the Aeroplan 25K Status Challenge for the full 90โday period.
How to Earn SQC
Your path toward Aeroplan Elite Status will be based on the SQC you accumulate from eligible Air Canada activity, including the amount you spend on eligible flights and the type of fare purchased.
- 4 SQC per $1 spent on Economy Flex fares or higher
- 2 SQC per $1 spent on Economy Standard fares
- 1 SQC per $1 spent on an Air Canada Vacations package
SQC are accumulated based on the base fare and carrier surcharges, excluding applicable taxes, fees, and third-party charges on eligible Air Canada flights. Flights booked in Economy Basic fares will not allow you to accumulate any SQC.
SQC accumulated through flight-related promotions, campaigns, or offers will not count toward the Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge. SQC accumulated through any other means, including non-flight activity, also do not count toward the Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge.
How Long Does the Status Last?
If you complete the challenge, your new Aeroplan status is valid until January 31 of the second calendar year after the year you registered.
So if you register and complete the challenge in 2026, the status would generally be valid through January 31, 2028. You can only register for one Aeroplan Elite Status Challenge per calendar year.
Your account will be updated within 72 hours of completing the requirements.
