Activation Codes by Email for Gift Cards

Recently I bought five $200 Visa Gift Cards through using the AmEx Staples promo where you received $25 for $100 spent at the online store. If you have bought these gift cards before, you know that you usually have to wait a while until the activation codes arrive by mail, in a separate envelope. You need the 4 digit activation code to be able to use the value of the card.

Well in this particular order, i waited a few weeks for the codes, and they didn’t arrive. I thought maybe the envelope was lost, nut 3 days ago, I received an email from GiftCardMall, which processes these orders, with the activation codes.

The email read “You are receiving this email because you recently purchased a Visa Gift Card from It has come to our attention that you may not have received the codes to activate your cards. Please find the activation code(s) for your gift card(s) below.” So if you’re waiting for activation codes, make sure to check your emails.

This was a pleasant surprise and hopefully they switch permanently to emailing these activation codes. This would make my spending much easier, since I use often to earn Chase UR points. The fees are high ( $6.95 for a $200 card) but the amount of points you receive makes it worthwhile. With the Chase Ink card you receive 5x points so 1,034 UR points for each card you purchase.
