Another terminal at JFK will get a facelift. British Airways and American Airlines will invest $344 million to upgrade Terminal 8. The terminal currently serves as a hub for American Airlines, but British Airways will move its operations to the new space from Terminal 7. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the project on Wednesday as part of his sweeping $13 billion plan to overhaul and upgrade the airport.
The updated terminal will get an get an additional 70,400 square feet of space. It will feature premium lounges for both airlines, new concessions, premium check-in space and enhanced baggage systems.
In addition, the terminal will get five additional wide-body gates that will allow for more transatlantic flights, which will ultimately make up to 14 daily flights to London available to passengers.
