Walmart and Sam’s Club Are Getting Tap to Pay
It’s finally happening. Walmart and Sam’s Club are adding Tap to Pay at checkout.
The rollout begins August 24, 2026 at select Walmart and Sam’s Club locations, with Walmart planning to bring the technology to all U.S. stores and clubs by the end of 2026. Fuel stations will follow by mid-2027.
Customers will be able to tap an eligible contactless credit or debit card, smartphone or smartwatch at checkout. Walmart also says eligible Walmart, Sam’s Club and OnePay cards can be added to digital wallets.
That means shoppers will no longer have to rely on inserting a physical card or using Walmart Pay when they want to pay digitally. Walmart says that Walmart Pay isn’t going anywhere and Sam’s Club will continue offering Scan & Go.
