The “Sweepstakes Period” is from 12:00:01 am Eastern Time (ET) September 6, 2016 to 11:59:59 pm ET December 31, 2016.
Prizes Include:
- One (1) grand prize winner will receive 250,000 award miles and a dream cruise for two ($3,000 cruise voucher good at cruises.united.com valid for travel til 12/31/17) ARV: $9,250.00
- One (1) first prize winner will receive 250,000 award miles ARV: $6,250.00
- Five (5) second prize winners will receive 100,000 award miles each ARV: $2,500.00
The value of the prizes will be taxable to winner as income. United is valuing the miles at 2.5 cents a piece, which is crazy high, but if you;re the winner you will get a great deal even after paying taxes. Not really free though.
