Southwest Free Drink Coupons Extended till Dec. 31
If you fly Southwest often, then you probably have a few free drink coupons laying around. Southwest typically gives out free drink coupons to frequent fliers for every 10 one-way flights. But that program and in-flight service in general were suspended during the pandemic. Now some service has resumed, but only offering canned water and snack mix.
But if you are sitting on recently expired coupons, don’t throw them out just yet. Southwest has quietly extended the expiration date, announcing the news in a post in its community blog. “Once service resumes, any drink coupons set to expire throughout 2020 will now expire December 31, 2020” the post says.
If you’re holding a recently expired coupon, or one that is about to expire, you don’t need to do anything for these changes to go into effect. Just keep your original coupon safe and present it onboard once in-flight beverage service resumes.
These coupons are a hot item. Southwest charges $6-$7 for beer, wine and spirits on flights, so you can get some decent savings while enjoying your flight. You can also find them on eBay.
