  1. Curious about that new train gimmick…. the bit about special viewing cars. Amtrak has long had something similar on several of its famed (but soooo aging) Rocky Mtn rides…. that is, ONE viewing car on a long train. (and good luck getting to actually sit in one of those seats at the best moments…. Heck no, you have to wait for all the chaps who go up there and camp in that viewing car…. 24 hours….. really ruined the whole Amtrak view car experience for us…)

    Now, if you actually get to BUY a seat on this new Canadian/Rocky Mountaineer Gold Leaf Service — one that assures you of having the SAME SEAT on the new luxury car, then THAT would be wonderful. (and no doubt very expensive) Followed a few links and not seeing a clear answer — suspicious. Any readers checked further into this?
