Two New Amex Hilton Cards, Plus Updates To Existing Cards

Following the announcement this summer that American Express is expanding its co-brand relationship with Hilton and becoming the exclusive issuer of their co-brand Card portfolio, they introduced two new cards. There’s a first Hilton’s premium Card and small business Card. Plus there’s updates to the two existing Cards in the portfolio.

No Fee Hilton Honors American Express Card

New Amex Hilton Cards

Designed for the occasional traveler, the no-annual-fee Hilton Honors American Express Card received an upgrade, including the removal of foreign transaction fees. It maintains the same name and benefits of the original card. The full benefits include:

  • 7X Hilton Honors Bonus Points at hotels and resorts in the Hilton portfolio worldwide
  • 5X Hilton Honors Bonus Points at U.S. grocery stores, U.S. restaurants, and U.S. gas stations
  • 3X Hilton Honors Bonus Points on all other eligible purchases
  • Complimentary Hilton Honors Silver status; Earn Gold status after spending $20,000 in purchases on the Card in a calendar year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • No annual fee

Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card

For the savvy and established traveler, the Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card will deliver maximized travel rewards, including elevated Hilton Honors status, the ability to earn more points and Priority Lounge passes. This card replaces the old Hilton Surpass card and the annual fee has also been increased by $20, to $95. The full benefits include:

This is the new premium Hilton card. This is a new business product and is very similar to the Hilton Honors American Express Ascend Card. It does have some extra 6X categories, such as flights booked directly with airlines or amextravel.com, car rentals and wireless telephone services. Hopefully it comes with a nice signup bonus as well.
