Mask Mandate for Public Transportation To Be Extended Through April 18
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the current Transportation Security Administration’s mask mandate for public transportation will be extended through April 18. The mandate requires travelers to wear face masks on planes, trains, buses and also in airports and train stations. This will be the fourth extension since the mandate was announced in January, 2021. The latest extension means that travelers will have to mask up as they make their way to their favorite destinations during the spring break travel season.
The CDC said that it “will work with government agencies to help inform a revised policy framework for when, and under what circumstances, masks should be required in the public transportation corridor. This revised framework will be based on the COVID-19 community levels, risk of new variants, national data, and the latest science. We will communicate any updates publicly if and/or when they change.”
