Marriott Suite Night Awards Can No Longer Be Used at All-Inclusive Resorts
Marriott Bonvoy Suite Night Awards can be used to upgrade your stay at select Marriott properties. They are one of the choices for Marriott Bonvoy members, when achieving 50 Qualifying Nights annually and again when achieving 75 Qualifying Nights. Members get five SNAs each time.
A Suite Night Award is a one-night confirmable upgrade to a standard suite or select premium room, depending on the hotel’s availability of those rooms. This perk was left over from the Starwood Preferred Guest before Marriott took over. Hoever tehse upgrades are not what they used to be during the SPG days.
Now Marriott has added a new limitation for Suite Night Awards, excluding All-Inclusive Resorts. Marriott has changed the terms as shown below.
Old Terms:
Not all Participating Properties participate in Suite Night Awards. Suite Night Awards are not redeemable at the following brands: The Ritz-Carlton, The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club, The Ritz-Carlton Residences, EDITION, Protea Hotels, Aloft, Element, Design HotelsTM, all-Suite Hotels, Marriott Executive Apartments, Marriott Vacation Club, Marriott Grand Residence Club properties and Vistana properties. In addition, Suite Night Awards are not redeemable at select Participating Properties. Contact a Customer Engagement Center for individual Participating Property Suite Night Award participation.

Guru’s Wrap-up
Marriott Bonvoy Suite Night Awards already had a lots of exclusions. Now you can add all-inclusive resorts to the list. But even properties that are not excluded in the terms, might not accept them. If you have an upcoming stay and need to check on a specific hotel, you will need to contact a Customer Engagement agent and check individual Participating Property Suite Night Award participation. Marriott doesn’t make this easy at all.
