We have seen this HSBC bonus in the past. If you can manage recurring direct deposits totaling at least $5,000, then you can go for the $500 bonus. Otherwise, the $250 bonus is probably the better option since it only requires a $10K balance instead of $75K. You must sign up through a referral to get these bonuses.

Just a warning that HSBC has not been very accommodating to say the least, when it comes to paying out the bonuses. Lot’s of people have had issues and it takes lots of back and forth to finally get your bonus sometimes. Even the account opening process sometimes takes a while.
