Hilton’s Latest Devaluation for Some Low and Mid-Tier Properties
It had been a few months since Hilton’s last devaluation. While they did backtrack on some of those price hikes, Hilton is at it again with another round on increased award rates.
This time it looks like rates are going up for many lower priced properties, while those super expensive aspirational destinations seem unchanged. The top rate is still at 250,000 points per night.
While you still might find some rare dates at the old lower prices, Standard Room Reward rates have jumped up by as much as 40%. Capital Hilton is an example with most might now priced at 70K, up from 50K. Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort will now cost you 130K per night, although you may find some random nights at 110K.
We’re seeing more and more of these price “adjustments” by Hilton. While some prices go down, most often we’re seeing massive increases. With dynamic pricing which has been in effect for almost e decade now, it’s difficult for customers to keep track of these changes. The only way you would know is if you just booked a specific property, or have been watching it for a while.

It’s always a good idea to lock in your bookings as early as possible. Even if prices drop, which is rare, then you can often rebook and still save.
These high award rates make Hilton Free Night Rewards even more valuable now. Hilton Free Nights are uncapped you you can always use them at most properties as long as a Standard Room Reward is available. That means that Free Night can be worth 250,000 points.
