Hawaii to quarantine all arrivals to the state for 14 days
Hawaii’s governor has instituted a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine starting Thursday of all people traveling to the state as part of efforts to fight the spread of coronavirus . The order applies to returning residents as well as visitors. It applies to all arrivals at Hawaii airports from the continental U.S. and international destinations and extends to other private and commercial aircraft.

Here’s who’s hiring right now
- CVS said it was hiring 50,000 to meet exploding demand at its stores.
- Walmart announced it will hire about 150,000 temporary workers by the end of May for their stores, clubs, distribution centers and fulfillment centers.
- Dollar Tree, which also owns Family Dollar, plans to hire 25,000 workers.
- 7-Eleven expects to bring on 20,000 new store employees.
- Amazon intends to hire 100,000 workers.
- Domino’s is hiring more than 10,000 workers.
- The medical community is looking for as many health care providers as possible. New York City has even asked private and retired providers to help in hospitals. More than 1,000 answered the call.
- Grocery chains (including Kroger) are looking for workers, as are shipping businesses, online learning and remote work firms.
Marriott to furlough tens of thousands of workers amid coronavirus fallout
The largest hotel company in the world, Marriott International Inc., announced Sunday it will furlough thousands of corporate employees across the globe as the company is forced to scale back due to the coronavirus pandemic. Two-thirds of its 4,000 corporate employees headquartered in Bethesda, Md., as well as two-thirds of its 174,000 corporate employees around the world, would be furloughed for 90 days beginning in April, executives said.
Working From Home Means Working Longer Hours for Many
As many people across the globe move to working remotely to slow the spread of coronavirus, they’re also starting to work a longer day. Those in the U.S. have logged on for an additional three hours per day compared to patterns seen before March 11 — a 40% jump — according to data from virtual private network service provider NordVPN Teams. In the U.K., France, Spain and Canada, the working day has extended by an average of two hours, with many people starting work earlier than usual.
